Description/Applicant information The Curtin Humanitarian Fund Scholarship is in accordance with Curtin´s long-standing, formal commitment to Ethics and Social Justice. The scholarships provide financial support to current or future Curtin undergraduate students who have entered Australia under refugee-like conditions and are unable to meet the costs of pursuing Higher Education. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis depending on individual circumstances.

Características Value The scholarship will provide a range of awards with a minimum of $1,000 cash payment to support educational costs. The award amount will be depending on the circumstances of the individual recipient and the annual availability of funds. This amount will be paid pro rata if the student´s semester study load is less than 100 credit points. Eligibility criteria Applicants must: Be a current or future Curtin undergraduate student Future students must already be in Australia Future students must have an offer of a place in a Curtin course (note, any recipient of the Curtin Humanitarian Award must have a letter of offer for a Curtin course before this Scholarship can be awarded) Be able to demonstrate financial need Be from a refugee-like background, or the relative of such a person, who experienced forced migration and may have entered Australia in a number of ways including: Off-shore approved Refugee or Humanitarian entrant Onshore, community based Asylum Seeker or refugee Temporary Protection Visa holder Family Reunion Solicitud Plazo: 18 de Marzo de 2013 Solicitudes: How to apply Application process An applicant must submit a completed application form with supporting documents attached by 4:00pm on the scholarship closing date, to the Scholarships Office at the Bentley campus. For a list of all documentation required for an application please see the documentation requirements checklist at the back of the application form. Documentation must be certified copies, for details about certification go to http://scholarships.curtin.edu.au/apply/certification.cfm The scholarship(s) will be awarded if there are candidates of sufficient merit. Applications will be assessed by a selection panel using the following criteria: Demonstrated financial Hardship Responses to questions in application Receive an offer of a place into an undergraduate degree at Curtin University in 2013 OR current enrolment in an undergraduate degree at Curtin University in 2013. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via the email you provided to TISC in mid-January 2013. In order to accept the scholarship a recipient will be requested to return a signed Terms and Conditions document and provide bank details. Deferral is NOT permitted for this scholarship. Once the scholarship has been accepted, the scholarship will commence from the first semester of study. This scholarship is not transferable to another university. Students may apply for as many scholarships as they are eligible to apply for however, will only be awarded up to one Curtin Funded continuing scholarship. A continuing scholarship is defined as a scholarship that has more than one payment. A Curtin Funded scholarship is a scholarship that is soley funded by Curtin and is a non industry funded scholarship.
